Brighton's Phoria aren't exactly what you'd class as a "new" new band. In fact, they've been doing their own thing, carving out a devoted fanbased - both online and off it - and releasing a steady flow of gloriously expansive electronic pop for nearly five years now. However, there's been no word on a debut LP in all this time. That all changed this week with the five-piece proudly announcing a first full-length record (out 2016), with 'Melatonin', its thudding, genre-twisting lead single. It's a nervous, tetchy composition at face value with electronic quirks blended into lilting guitars, but that smooth, soothing vocal soon silences any anxieties. Shimmering, hypnotic and utterly refined. Good things do come to those that wait. - DC
